It’s been a while. A long while. I haven’t updated in over a year because, well, I’ve been lazy. Last year was tough for me and it affected my weight loss in a big way. I stopped exercising, I had no motivation, I didn’t lose any weight. I didn’t necessarily put any on either but my dietician’s not exactly over the moon with me.
This year is different. I’ve got my mojo back.
I had a hospital appointment last week. After WLS you get a certain period of time (3 years I think) where they’ll support you and make sure everything’s on track. But I’m now 3 years and 8 months post-op and I’m still having regular apppointments. They want to sign me off but they want to make sure I’m in the right frame of mind before this happens.
So, why is this year different?
I’m back to my motivated self. In January I bought myself a funky new bento box from Monbento and I’ve been making my own lunches for work. Lots of fresh fruit and raw veg to snack on as well as boiled eggs and a proper filling healthy lunch.
And the biggest change? I’ve got myself a personal trainer.
I had my first session with Christina this morning. I want to do early morning sessions because that then leaves my evenings free to have a social life. I was at the studio for 6am raring to go. Well, as raring as you can be at 6am when you’re not going on holidays! That’s the only reason I’m usually up at 6am anyway.
I did squats, weights, steps, a big rope thingy (technical term) and something called a TRX suspension trainer. It was hard work and I was sweating like a pig in a bacon factory but then I’ve hardly done any exercise in a year so that wasn’t a surprise. Christina said I did very well and was very encouraging. Although it was hard work it was actually fun.
I’m not really aching yet but I have a feeling it’s going to be like a delayed hangover. I’ll get up tomorrow morning and not actually be able to get out of bed! I’ve signed up for 16 sessions with Christina and I have my next hospital appointmet in 8 weeks. I’m using my Fitbit again and logging my food on My Fitness Pal as well as signing up to Bounts to help my motivatation.
So I’m back. Let’s see what I can do in 8 weeks!
PS Maybe, at some point, I will go back and update my Kilimanjaro posts so keep any eye out!
